100% Australian Made using OEM connectors.

Wiring harness / Wiring Loom compatible with Tekonsha electric brake controllers such as the Prodigy, Primus IQ & P3.
This wiring looms enables the Tekonsha brake unit to become a portable device and is a great option for those who cannot complete a permanent installation in their vehicle or have the need to switch the brake unit between multiple tow vehicles.

Recommending for braking up to 2 axles.
Please refer to manufactures instructions for correct mounting position of the electric brake controller.

Fitment

  1. Securely mount the brake controller as per manufactures instructions.
  2. Connect the 4 wire plug to the back of the Tekonsha brake unit.
  3. Connect the cigarette power plug to the vehicles 12v socket.
  4. Run the 5m length of cable with the 2 pin connector from the brake unit to the rear of the vehicle feeding the cable through a safe path.
  5. Drop the lead out of the boot lid and connect the 2 pin connector plug to on of our compatible adaptors (purchased separately).
    (diagram b) Caution, Do not pinch or damage the cable during this process.
  6. Connect the trailer adaptor to the vehicle & connect the trailer. (diagram c)
  7. Follow manufactures instructions to test operate the trailer brakes with a limitation of braking up to 2 axles.

WARNINGS

ENSURE THAT YOUR TRAILER BRAKES ARE INSTALLED AND OPERATRING CORRECTLY. IMPROPERLY INSTALLED OR FAULTY TRAILER BRAKES CAN CAUSE ERRATIC VEHICLE OR TRAILER BEHAVIOUR WITH POTENTIAL TO CAUSE A ROAD ACCIDENT. ALWAYS CHECK BRAKES AT LOW SPEED EACH TIME A TRAILER IS CONNECTED TO YOUR VEHICLE.

DUE TO OPERATING FROM A 12V CIGARETTE LIGHTER SOCKET THE UNIT IS LIMITED TO BRAKING EITHER A SINGLE AXLE OR TANDEM AXLE TRAILER ONLY. IT IS NOT SUITABLE TO OPERATE BRAKES ON A TRIPLE AXLE TRAILER UNLESS THE UNIT IS HARD WIRED AS PER THE MANUFACTURES INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS.

CAUTIONS

  1. Ensure that your electric brake controller in mounted in a secure fixed location as per the manufactures instructions provided. Failure to mount securely will result in inaccurate braking force measurements and incorrect braking of the trailer.
  2. If towing a tandem axle trailer it is recommended that you use a 12v 15amp cigarette socket as your power source if 100% braking force is required. If towing a tandem braked axle from a 12v 10amp cigarette socket it is not recommended to operate the electric brake controller at more than 80% capacity. Towing a single braked axle will operate from a 12v 10amp cigarette socket at 100% capacity.
  3. It is recommended that while using your portable electric brake unit that you do not operate or charge any other devices from another power source in your vehicle unless that power source is isolated from the cigarette lighter socket which is providing power to your brake unit.
